We thought about taking a holiday in France this summer. Simon had recently traded his Alfa Romeo saloon for a 2-seater sports model of the same make, so we decided on a touring holiday. Rather than reserving hotel accommodation in advance, we thought that we would try a more ‘ad lib’ approach, finding places to stay as we wandered slowly towards Giens on the Mediterranean coast. Simon has a small powerboat in storage there, and it could quickly be made ready for us by his friend Tom, who owns the storage facility there.
