My mother had asked me to stop by her mother’s house on  my  way  home from my friend’s house to pick up a crocheting book.  Both  my  mother and my grandmother were really into crocheting, and they traded  these cornball little magazines with all kind of  intricate  little  designs and patterns in them.  The magazines came with not only pictures,  but detailed instructions, written in code, on how to crochet whatever you wanted.  Don’t spread it around, but I had even tried it myself.  It’s not a masculine thing to do, true, but it sure was
